Justin is the first French surfer to join the team and will represent Northcore France as the brand continues to expand in that region.

Delanne a goofy footer, born in 1990 in Martinique is now based in the surfing hotbed of Bidart, SW France. I meet Eugene many years ago at a bar France,I was supposed to shape him some boards then but it didnt happen.Fast forward 10 or so years and I finaly get to do some for the Pom Occy.
Eugene is one of the UK's best surfers and has a pretty good life,he works as a cook and guide on board "Jiwa" a beautifull vessel that works the Northern part of Sumatra through Tradewinds Adventures.Eugene is no novice in the surf,the bloke charges like a mad bull and rips the bag out of those Indo walls,ya would pretty much give ya left ball for just a couple of days of his life,just not those days when he hits the turps on his time off....cheers Gov.

After over a month in Bali hooking into some Indo delights "gromet" Dylan Lehmann was straight back into the swing of things as soon as he got back to Maui.After a couple of days rest he was off to Kauai to compete in a NSSA comp and bought home the bacon with a first place result.That timed in with a nice swell so it was of to his local for a shack and punt fest and test some fresh sticks.At time of writing the wiper snapper is on the North Shore for the Surfer Pole awards and to do the dish's at the Quiksilver pipe house in return for prime positioning...hard life.

After a 4 month work/vacation stint in France and Bali we are back in Oz and its full steam ahead.We started off the trip with a short stop over in Bali.I hadnt been there for over 10 years and was expecting a big change, and that change hit me accross the face.The main thing that blew me away was the traffic,I dont even know where to start on this one ,its just off tap,and what Kuta has transformed into is quiet scary.The Island still has her charm and so captivated me again, as it did in the early 80's on my first visit, I spend the most part of the decades that followed chasing the waves and experiences through the archipelago off this first buzz ,as many did, and got to know her moods fairly well .The waves,culture and food are all still the same,and to taste all again was a treat,allso introducing this culture that I love to my partner and my kids was a very satisfying experience.We were lucky enough to be hosted by Shane and Annette Swadling who have a great Villa at Cunggu and enjoyed some fun waves there,thanks guys for putting up with the rug rats.We also stayed with a good friend of mine Mick,who owes Micks place at Bingin,he and his lovely partner Sascha buffed us out in the honeymoon bungalow and we had some quality time there relaxing,surfing and reaquainting myself with a place I spent a lot of time at in the past.I hooked up with one of my team riders while in Bali aswell,the style master himself Dedi Gun,who had just taken out Surftimes most stylish surfer on land and in the water at the awards held in Bali. We enjoyed some fun sessions in the water and visited some of Dedi's favourite Padang food haunts,it was so good to hook into this tucker again,I missed it for a long time.

France,what can I say but amazing.Food ,wine,waves on tap,this year was a special one as an Indian summer went into full swing through September/ October with swell and offshores to match it.To start the trip we landed straight into the Fete De Bayonne which is a 5 day festival/party.Some friends and family were there at the airport in Biaritzz dressed in red and white and dragged us straight into the maddness.....4 days later we came out of it,everything intact...just.

I got straight into the shape room after that and started to forfill the orders.A big thank you to Oliver at Fatlines Glassing who done a great job in getting the boards out over the next 3 months, with such good quality,putting up with me coming in the the factory after getting barreled all morning and hasseling him for a board to be ready for a team rider or Pro or someone,I know what I would have said to me, but Oliver motored on singing his song,smoke 10 joints in the morning,smoke 10 joints at night..........classic.

Team rider Jayke Sharp was in Europe for the Pro events and came out with a bang in Newquay posting 8's and 9's only to be let down in the next round by mother nature,this routine continued for Sharpy throughout Europe,in one event he was throwing away 9's. Allthough he was ripping the bag out it and was talked of highly by peirs and punters he just couldnt link the heats to get him through.But the lad had a ball,he and Heath Joske and good friend Geary blazed the bars and beach's where ever they went.We scored some fun waves while they were there and many good times,a big thank you to Tavis for putting the boys up in his amazing pad in Bidart,and to the locals at Marbella for leting the boys hook into their turf.Young Tahitian ripper Mateia Hiquily was also in town getting shacked and boosting all over the place on his fav FG-2 model,I cant beleve this board is still in one piece after the punishment this grom has handed out to it.

The experiences over the months we were in in France were as allways,superb,and it was great to see family and friends again,too many good times and good people here to mention, ill just say "viva le pays basque"...merci a tout.

Au revoir France and its was back to Bali for nasi cumpur,star beer,fresh juice,barrels and a semi detox after France.I hooked up with my grom team rider from Maui and his mum Jennifer and we had a great time.Dylan is absolutly ripping and has a great future in the sport,I havent seen to many 13 year olds surfing like him.His reef surfing at this age is amazing,he was blowing everybody away with his maturity in some heavy situations,the kid has what it takes.I bought a couple of fresh sticks from France for the grom and he took to them straight away,I also managed to shape some for him in Bali so the grom went back to Hawaii for the start of the season loaded up with the sic quiver,the grom was frothing to hit the Quik Pipe house and hook into the Nth shore season.
A lot was acheived over the past 4 months in the development of current models and the addition of several new ones that Im realy excited about.We will also be releasing new logos model graffics and a new website/blog, all which will be launched early in the new year with the help of the very talented guys at Tazman multi media.
A big thank you to Mick Curley,Pete Mathews and Basti,these lads have their game down pat on the Island of the Gods. Allso to Mick & Sascha at Micks Place,the staff , Annie and the Bingin asli,it was "great" to get back,and to all our old and new clients....thanks for your support and patience guys.....JF.

Jayke Sharp (Coffs Harbour, AUS) 23, who suffered a cut inside his ear during a free surf earlier in the week, showed no signs of his injury affecting his performance as he tore apart a peaky left with a combination of backhand snaps.

“I paddled out there and it had suddenly picked up over 3ft so at the start I didn’t know which one to go and I knew it was going to be hard. I got one little score and then that left came through and luckily I put it together so I am pretty happy. I came down here yesterday to watch it and it was pumping so I was hoping today would be the same but you can’t always have the best conditions but I’m stoked to get through.”

Sharpe continues to work on his overall seed for the remainder of the season and into the 2012 season. His lack of big results on the European leg is pushing the young Australian to find a result here at this all important PRIME event and the huge amount of points on offer.

“I haven’t done well the whole Europe leg. I keep having one good heat and then I have a bad next heat. So hopefully I can string together a few heat wins and maybe make the quarters or a semi. My self confidence needs a boost and to get through heats is the best way to improve your confidence.”

A first-call will be made at 7.30am for the resumption of Round Two Heat 5 of the ASP PRIME Billabong Azores Islands Pro.

Hooked up Jayke sharp this morning to chase down some waves and try out some new boards,allso the guys from Blue Star Revolution came along to get some footage of Sharpy.First up scored some fun barreles in the morning at a sick beachie north of Hossagor,after refueling we headed to another location and scored some very good waves.The set up was amazing we did'nt know wheather to surf the 4 to 5 feet barreling peaks to the left of us or the amazing banks to the south.sharpy and I hit the right and got pretty much barreled of our heads.....oh yea the new boards went sic.

This photo does no justice at all to this left,it was pumping.

A cheeky right.............What a day,got up fairly early for French standards packed the family up, meet up with Sharpy and Geary and headed up the coast a little. The boys got away from us and 30 min later I get a text from Sharpy saying there's a right at such and such it's "PUMPING".When I pulled up I was faced with 5 to 6 feet of solid offshore groomed lines barreling off there nuts for miles in either direction,Sharpy and Geary were out there alone,I saw sharpy get about 5 crazy barrels as I was getting changed, my froth alert was peaking and I couldnt get out there fast enough.We surfed for hours, got some amazing pits.The swell started to drop a little so we came in to refuel at the resto right in front of the break.The tide filled in fast and what apeared in front of us were some very good banks,a left that I could compare to an Indo reef, "a la Maca's" and a a fun park series of peaks that had everything,we surfed for ages and when we left it was still on.......all in all a pretty good day.....Viva La France.

Had some fun today in the sun on the French beachies,Huey turned it on and some sic barrels were had by the crew in various parts of the coast.I was lucky and scored 2 sessions almost to myself,very stoked to get some good waves after 5 weeks of more or less nothing.I rode the F3 today and the board went sic ,takes a bit of ajusting in the solid waves ,the model has speed to burn and is very good for carving as well.Toping that off with great wine and food on for dinner. I dedicate this whole day of waves and good wine and food to my good friend Tony.

Shaping boards in another country for a different bunch of surfers and wave conditions is one one the things that give's me a buzz about my Job,also taking in the cultures of the different countries adds to that to make it all a very rewarding experience.Rocking up to France 2 weeks ago I was thrown straight into the Fete de Bayonne which is a 5 day festival held in the Basque region of France.The locals take this pretty serious and the atmosphere during the festival is great,lots of wine,food and good times.I caught up with lots of friends and the eating,wine tasting has continued on just about everyday since.Saying that, I have managed to start to hammer out the orders for the boys and girls both local and those here for the Euro leg or the tour. Jayke Sharp started his campaign with a bang with some massive scores in his first heat but just missed out on getting into the 3rd round of the Relentless Board Masters in Fistrel ( England ).The boys are now in Lacanau for the 6 star Sourez Pro which started today.Sharpy once again came out of the gates with some amazing scores, a 9.17 and a 9.43 leaving him with a total heat score of 18.60, his first wave score of a 9.00 was a throw away and Jayke had every one comboed.The new 5'9 " F3 model that Jayke is riding is looking the goods under his feet and seems to be a great choice for the Euro leg.

Jayke Sharp must be pretty stoked with his first heat in Europe this year after getting a 8.33 on his first wave then later backing that up with an 8.93. Jayke has hit the Euro leg with his good mate Geary as caddie, the boys are sure to have some fun on the trail.

Along with Freestone several other young guns impressed including Shaun Joubert (Mossel Bay, ZAF) 20, Jesse Mendes (BRA) 18, and Jayke Sharp (AUS) 23, with their innovative new school surfing combined with classic power surfing. Sharpe took top honours with a massive air-reverse and a combined two-wave heat total of 17.27 out of 20.

“The first wave I got was the bomb of the heat,” stated Sharp. “I got all nervous when I took off on it but I was lucky to get that good one at the start to get me in front of the other boys. It is fun out there even though it is messy with all the little sections to hit so I’m stoked with the start I have had.”

Tahitian grom Mateia Hiquily has taken out the Billabong Pro Junior held at 6 feet Teahuppoo last weekend with a total score of 17.33 and a 10 point barrel .In doing so Mateia has earned his place into the pre trials of the Billabong Pro to be held at Teahupoo in August just before the main event.Mateia is super stoked about the result will be up agaist some of the best chargers from Tahiti at a break he has become to know very well latley....well done grom....yyeeeoooww.

Mark William's tearing it up around the Coffs Harbour beachies last weekend.This bloke never ceases to amaze me me,I remember as a grom watching him and another good friend of mine Mark Ford from South West Rocks going head to head in many competions,they where 2 of the best surfers both in competition and free surfing on the MNC and all us groms used to froth on thier sufing.Both Marks are into thier 50`s and still ripping waves along the Mid North Coast and its a great pleasure of mine to have crafts under both these legends feet....yyeeeooowww.

Suffolk Park’s Kirstin Ogden (16 years) won the Pro Junior division to adding to her already impressive career in surfing.
“I never thought I’d win the Junior Pro, the field was so strong” said Ogden.
“It is always a great field that competes here and to win feels great – I just went out there to gain experience at this level and to win is unbelievable!” One of the organisers, Max Perrot, told The Echo conditions were decent with off-shore one- metre waves at Lennox Beachies, which is opposite the Lennox Pub. ‘She took home $500 and a sensational trophy from Ho’okupu Byron Bay, and has potential for a great professional surfing career,’ he said.

Kirsten also won the 16 and under division earlier in the day.

Jayke Sharp has been putting the F3 through its paces lately and is super stoked with the performance,he rode it to a podium finish at the Breaka Burleigh Pro earlier in he year and was his pick for the 6.0 Pro at Trestles later on.The F3 has a flatish rocker with a single concave from nose to tail.We havent changed much at all on this model since its first conception as it seems to be working well for a range of different surfers.

We have had a stack of good waves lately and the boys and I have been putting the models through their paces,and having a fling with some newys.We came up with this little beauty after playing around a little with the Shiraz's rocker outline and bottom curves, adding 4 channels for some extra "zing" and holly Sh&t did we stumble on to a gem. A very fast maneuverable board that you can jam the gezzas out of.

This is a 5'10 x 18’3/8 x 2’1/8 with the EPS Kevlar frame in our F3 model. These boards don’t have a stringer, instead the flex control has been transferred to the outline of the board. Kevlar has more flex than most of the other fabrics. The parabolic idea has nose to tail flex, but wont have as much torsion flex as a stringer board. So, it allows for a different feel.

Gil Scott-Heron, a revolutionary poet, artist, and musician, died today in a New York City hospital at the age of 62. The cause of death has yet to be released, but according to The Source, Scott-Heron passed away at approximately 4:00 pm ET at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital.

The news of Scott-Heron's death will sadden a wide swath of society because his reach as an artist was simply tremendous. You can walk into any record store, and in most sections you can either find a Scott-Heron recording or a work that was directly influenced by him. Hip-hop especially owes much to his spoken word innovations, but soul, R&B, rock, and jazz can also claim him as one of their own. Kanye West notably featured a sample of his work on West's latest album, and Scott-Heron released a solo effort last year, entitled I'm New Here.

Gil Scott-Heron had public struggles with drugs over the past decade, and he claimed he violated his parole by running away from a treatment clinic because the employees refused to provide him with HIV medication. We'll wait until the official cause of Scott-Heron's death is released to tell you if any of the above are related. For now, we simply mourn the death of one of the most influential artists of the past half-century.

Tahitian grom Mateia Hiquily has been at it again by getting a great result in the Taapuna Junior comp (under 21) held last weekend. Mateia ended up with 3rd place over all which is a pretty sic result for a 15 year old. Mateia got the best barrel of the comp and got a 8.33 for his effort….well done grom.It was also great to see Joycelyn Poulou on the podium,Joycelyn rides for a great friend of ours in Tahiti, Teva, who has been at it shaping magic boards for a long time,if you are heading to Tahiti and need a board on your arrival or you ding your stick while your there then Teva is your man.

Sharpy was very unlucky not to progress to the next round this morning at the 6.0 Lowers Pro in San Clemente California. Dylan Lehmann was one happy grom the other day when he picked up his 5 new fresh sticks from Maui airport....the following email from his dad Andy.

Flano...the grom stickers up his new quiver. It was an excruciating two hours to drive to the airport, get interviewed by customs and then drive home. After surviving that the slobbering, frothing grom was ready with a bag full of stickers and grip pads. Once the flawlessly packaged box was broken open and the spray jobs given full respect the stickers got placed. next stop was Lahaina harbor to get the new shapes wet.....as usually the feedback clearly states that nothing remotely compares to the performance of a Flano..........Go the grom.

CONDITIONS: Sun, wind, rain and great surf at Kewalos.
(March 21, 2011) The Hawaii Regional Championships was held on March 17-19 at Kewalo Basin. It was a beautiful 3-day weekend with all the weather elements including sun, wind and some rain. But most important we scored great surf! The 2011 Hawaii Regional Championships serves as the Regional qualifier for Hawaii surfers to earn a bid to the 2011 NSSA National Championships presented by Nike 6.0, June 26-July 3 in Huntington Beach, California.
Flanagan surfboards team rider Dylan Lehmann was very unlucky not to have taken 1st place in the Explorer Menehuene,Dylan was ripping and should have taken the prize but thats competition.Dylan has still earned his place in both the Open Boys and Explorer Menehuene divisions of the US nationals to be held later in the year,and with a batch of new sticks under his feet the groom will be frothing.

SURFERS excelled in the small but building wind-swept waves at the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 4-Star Men's World Tour Burton Toyota Pro at Merewether Beach in Newcastle with high 8 and 9 point rides common place as the event introduced the high seeded surfers.
Veteran Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) surfer Tom Whitaker schooled emerging newcomer and current ASP World Junior Champion Jack Freestone in the opening round of the round of thirty-two.
Whitaker’s experience saw him select superior waves and he caught the two required waves posting a strong 7.17 opener and backed it up late in the heat with a 5.87 to eliminate Freestone who caught plenty of waves but found few decent sections to show his potential.
Coff’s Harbour pair Heath Joske and Jayke Sharpe were the days standouts.
Joske posted two excellent high 8 point rides in his demolition job on Mitch Colborne while Sharpe was equally impressive scoring the highest single wave of the event so far with an outstanding 9.5 ride to smash Sydney’s Nick Riley.
“These waves are good” said a confident Sharp after his win.
“The swells starting to build, the sand bank is great and I can’t wait to surf the next rounds in solid waves – the weekend will be exciting with swell and crowds to surf in front of.”

Jayke Sharp powered through the quarter finals yesterday of the Breaka Burleigh Pro advancing with Taj Barrow into the semi's held first thing this morning. Sharpy played the game perfectly and slipped in behind Taj in front of Tiago Pires and Jay "Bottle" Thomson to advance into the final.The Breaka Burleigh Pro is properly the hardest 4 star in the world with a lot of the WCT elite competing in it as a warm up to the Quiksilver Pro which is on in about 1 weeks time. The Coffs Habour lad can hold his up high, Taj, Bede, and Parko were really amping for this title, Jayke just needed another average wave to maybe take second but things didnt go his way and Parko got the score he needed from the judges in the dying minutes to put Sharpy into 4th place.Well done mate and there is another F3 on the way....yeeeeepppaa.

Friday February 18 2011: Jayke Sharpe (Coff’s Harbour) in awesome form today winning his round three heat at the Breaka Burleigh Pro on the Gold Coast.

Sharpe won the heat defeating highly rated Portugal surfer and world number 25 rated Tiago Pires who also advanced in 2nd place.

Sharpe is through to the round of 32 which will surf tomorrow.

CRESCENT Head surfer Will Coy had an amazing Australia Day on Wednesday.
He was the talk of the Hurley Burleigh Pro Junior at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast.
Coy posted a big upset by defeating ASP World Junior number two ranked surfer Dale Staples (RSA) who finished in second place with fellow Australian Michael McCarron eliminated in third and Joshua Sherwell in fourth.
The 6-star ASP Hurley Burleigh Pro Junior is one of the most prestigious junior surfing events in the world hosting more than 130 of the world’s best professional junior surfers as well as boasting a world record US $25,000 first place cheque.
